Expect the Great (ETG) the college and career readiness program will be held January 31st and February 1st, 2025 at the Davis School District Freeport Center Training Facility, Clearfield, Utah. This vital student success and retention tool targeted toward Black students in Utah is the program envisioned by Reverend France A. Davis during his tenure with the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) Board of Regents and aligns with HB 261 guidance issued by USHE in October 2024 and the Board’s commitment “to increasing access and completion at USHE institutions to support the success of every student.”
"We want to provide a space to discuss challenges and solutions to continue recruitment and retention of all students, specifically students who are underrepresented on colleges campuses.” Betty Sawyer,
Expect The Great gathers hundreds of high school and college students, parents, corporations, and community leaders from around the state to continue delivering on the vision by providing information, resources and other support to increase college participation, retention and graduation. Workshops will be provided along with thought-provoking panel discussions, exciting keynote speakers, and educational opportunities to interact with college and university representatives from the 16 USHE institutions.
The event promises plenty of learning and networking opportunities with like-minded and college-bound students. To register to attend this no cost event, click below before January 15th to get full access.
